Ledy Pa Records

For the first time in quite a few years, Ledy Pa Records is making an existing album available to the world. Stü Art's 7th album, The Perfect Response, was distributed in January 2023 and should be available on many different platforms and services. I always felt that we improved as time went by, developing our sound and improving on our musicality (if that's possible). So, though I probably like the last two albums best (Finally... and Chôpek Rink), The Perfect Response is easily my next favorite. It contains one of my absolute favorite Stü Art songs in "Yellow Mountains". Additionally, I had three lead vocals that worked out okay. In order to meet the distribution requirements of CDBaby, I had to rework the cover art to make it look less like the 25 year old computer drawing it was. (In fact, the original artwork was created for a homemade cassette release.) Also, on the original release (and the CDs I made later), we put a quiet recording done by Jim after the last son... read more
Jejune Echo
February 20, 2014 by Michael Nickras
Having spent the last few years developing (not continuously) and contemplating the Jejune Echo, the day has come where something needs to be written, if for no other reason than to have a placeholder on the front page separating the top and bottom of the page. The idea of a publication for Ledy Pa Records goes back a number of years. When Jim and I first started recording music in the early 90s, I recall the existence of fanzines and fan club newsletters tied to artists or record labels or scenes. As a member of the Asia Fan Club, I had first hand experience reading about that band and it's various connections to other bands and... the world. As a brief aside, I want to complain to nobody that I think I was gypped - though I paid my dues, I did not get the last few mailings that I was due. I'm thinking the Asia Fan Club disappeared at that time, but I never did find out for sure. Anyway, prior to the creation of this website (and the internet as we now know it), the notion ... read more
Comic Strip

About a week ago, I suggested to Eleanor that I was going to create a comic strip based on our two cats for the Jejune Echo. She said that I should do it and I should start with an event that happens 3-4 times a week and makes us chuckle each and every time. Challenge accepted, I suppose. For the heck of it, I'll give a little background. First and foremost, who are the stars of this little strip? We adopted Eigeman as a kitten from the Ross County Humane Society (Chillicothe, Ohio) in Feb... read more
Maybe You Missed It

How To Boil A Frog is a comedic look at the issue of "overshoot," the idea that there are too many people living on too little planet. The filmmaker looks at 5 problems related to this: overpopulation, war on nature, rich vs poor, Peak Oil, and global warming. Then, he gives 5 solutions for us as individuals to consider. I found this short film many years after its release, but it has had a profound impact on me. I often consider how my choices and actions fit into the 5 solutions part of ... read more
Interesting Find

In the past, if pressed, I probably would not have said I had a specific interest in astronomy. But, I've always had this interest in objects in space. Tell me more about the planet Mercury or give me some amazing numbers on the diameter of the Milky Way galaxy. However, in finding this PBS Digital Studios series, it turns out that I'm an astronomy nut! Written and hosted by Phil Plait, this series of 46 short episodes is almost the perfect way to dive into this huge field. I was originally d... read more
